The University awarded a contract for V-PRO maX 2 Low Temperature Sterilization System.
V-PRO maX 2 Low Temperature Sterilization System is designed for use in the terminal sterilization of medical devices. The preprogrammed Sterilization Cycles operate at low pressure and temperature, suitable for processing medical devices without leaving toxic residues.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) The sterilization system has to do with direct patient care. Using the sterilizer is one of the best ways to clean and disinfect reusable medical instruments. A washer/sterilizer is a machine used for the automated cleaning and disinfection of instruments. Without access to these washers, UI Health would not be able to offer life saving and preventative surgeries to our patients.
