Announcement of an Exempt Purchase

This membership is for information access and other services/participation benefits in conjunction with ongoing membership in American Hospital Association (AHA), payable to the state associate affiliation, Illinois Hospital Association (IHA), and membership to Illinois Health & Hospital Association services.

This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for membership in professional, academic, research, or athletic organizations on behalf of a public institution of higher education, an employee of a public institution of higher education, or a student at a public institution of higher education. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(1)) There is only one American Hospital Association (AHA) via the state affiliation through Illinois Hospital Association (IHA) and the membership benefits are not provided by any other services providers. In addition to advocating for and supporting its members as they serve their patients and communities, IHA makes available to hospitals and other members a variety of services that involve the submissions, use and disclosure of PHI to assist hospitals or other members with their health care operations.
