The University awarded a contract for QuantiFERON collection supplies and reagents.
Purchase of QuantiFERON collection supplies and high throughput testing reagents necessary for Tuberculosis (TB) testing for UI Health patients and employees.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) TB testing is integral to preventing the spread of a very serious infectious disease. All employees are tested annually as well as patients in underserved populations, and in areas with higher risk of spread. QIAGEN is the only provider of the QuantiFERON blood test for TB which is a vast improvement over the old option of skin tests. Testing has been further improved and results can be obtained at a higher throughput than was done previously.
