The University awarded a contract for the IntelliVue MX550.
The IntelliVue MX550 is used directly on patients in critical care settings and operating room.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) The IntelliVue MX550 is used directly on patients in critical care settings and operating room. The doctor connects chest leads on to the patient which are connected to the IntelliVue MX550. The chest leads transmits information to monitors next to the patients bedside. This information is needed for the doctors to assess the patients vitals during procedures. The information helps the doctor access if the patient is under duress or requires additional medication or adjustments under anesthesia, intensive, cardiac, neonatal and general care procedures.
