The University awarded a contract for Donated Organs for Transplantation.
Southwest Transplant Alliance provides donated organs for life-saving transplant surgeries. UI Hospitals and Clinics is the leading kidney transplant program in the region and our patients significantly rely on the partnership, coordination, and service.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) Southwest Transplant Alliance procures organs for donation and their prices are comparable with other Organ Procurement Agencies (OPOs).
