The University awarded a contract for a Pediatric Cardiology Chief.
Advocate Aurora Health will provide a physician at .20 FTE as Pediatric Cardiology Chief. The physician will work in the UIC Department of Pediatrics/ Childrens' Hospital University of Illinois, which will include 46 half-day clinic sessions per year (each half-day clinic is 4 hours), and 2 weeks of ward/nursery/call coverage per year, along with administrative time to serve as Chief for the division of Pediatrics Cardiology. The physician will report to the Chair of UIC Pediatrics for all department and division needs. His specific duties as division chief include: clinical growth and development, schedule, oversight of group to staff outpatient clinics, perform fetal echoes, provide inpatient floor, ICU, NICU coverage, EP procedures and cardiac catheterizations. The chief will guide the group with a strategic vision to provide educational coverage for the University students, residents, and fellows. The physician will be expected to participate in appropriate committees at University. Facility and Professional Fees for service at University will be billed to the appropriate insurer and collected by University using WWT, University will retain all collections for services rendered at University.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) This procurement is for providing healthcare services to children related to their heart health and diseases (Pediatric Cardiology) at the Childrens' Hospital University of Illinois. Our hospital provides much needed healthcare to children from the neighboring suburbs and the Chicagoland area. We serve children from the lower income category, economically backward sections, and uninsured patients.
