The University awarded a contract for a Heidelberg Spectralis.
A Heidelberg Spectralis is needed to perform work proposed in this administrative supplement (Aim 2). The instrument provides access to modern imaging technology for non-invasive assessment of mouse retina.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) Heidelberg Engineering continuously optimizes imaging and healthcare IT technologies to provide ophthalmic diagnostic solutions that empower clinicians to improve patient care. This National Eye Institute-funded grant requires this specialized service. If this procurement cannot be made, the study cannot be conducted.
