The University awarded a contract for Study Abroad Program Services.
These services will allow students to gain understanding, acquire knowledge, and develop skills for living in a globally interdependent and culturally diverse world.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for placement of students in externships, practicums, field experiences, and for medical residencies and rotations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(6)) The First Year Flames Abroad program is a unique study abroad program that provides newly admitted UIC students with an early international education experience that has been shown to help with retention and student success. This supports the campus internationalization plan, particularly Strategy II: Prepare Graduates to tackle 21st Century Global Challenges. We anticipate offering this program annually.
