The University awarded a contract for aircraft engines.
The University has need to procure three engines for their inventory and pay for a core charge for the three engines as well. In order to avoid downtime for the Aviation program, SIU requires engines in inventory.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for events or activities paid for exclusively by revenues generated by the event or activity, gifts, or donations for the event or activity, private grants, or any combination thereof. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(2)) This purchase is exempt as the funds used to procure the engines are from gifts, donations, private grants and/or revenue generated by the events or activities of this procurement.
