The University awarded a contract for maintenance of surgical instruments.
Repair and maintenance of surgical instruments including sterile and non-sterile instruments, positioning items like stirrups, and scopes.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical at a university-operated health care center or dispensary that provides care, treatment, and medications for students, faculty and staff (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) These instrument repairs are necessary to maintain the daily operational needs of Perioperative Services. Without these repairs, we will not be able to provide certain procedures. This would result in a loss in revenue.
