The University awarded a contract for MicroVention Hydrocoil Embolic System.
This purchase is for the MicroVention Hydrocoil Embolic Systems and ancillaries. The HydroCoil Embolic System is intended for the endovascular embolization of intracranial aneurysms and other neurovascular abnormalities such as arteriovenous malformations and arteriovenous fistulae.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) The medical supplies provided by MicroVention are essential for patient care. Without these disposables, we couldn't deliver surgical services, which may result in revenue loss for the hospital.
