Biomet Microfixation implants and anchillaries are used in reconstruction and augmentation in craniofacial, neuro and revision procedures where other treatments or devices have failed.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical at a university-operated health care center or dispensary that provides care, treatment, and medications for students, faculty and staff (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) The medical implants provided by Biomet Microfixation are essential for patient care and particular surgical procedures. Without these implants, surgical services could not provide this patient care, which could result in revenue loss for the hospital.
