The University awarded a contract for surgical tissue heart valves.
This purchase is for surgical tissue heart valves and annuloplasty ring products.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical at a university-operated health care center or dispensary that provides care, treatment, and medications for students, faculty and staff (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) These surgical tissue and cardiac ring products are necessary to complete various cardiac procedures for our patients. Without access to these items, care may be delayed or patients may be driven to receive care at other facilities which could impact UI Health revenues.
