The University awarded a contract for an intraoperative ultrasound system.
This purchase is for an intraoperative ultrasound system for robotic partial nephrectomy procedures.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) The new ultrasound system is smaller, easier to handle, especially with the single port instruments allowing a decrease in the invasiveness of the procedure. This new system will provide the latest technology and the safest care to our patients.
