The University awarded a contract for on site service for anesthesia systems.
This purchase is for on site service for three anesthesia systems.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) The medical equipment is essential for patient care and particular surgical procedures. Without these anesthesia systems we could not provide patient care, which could result in revenue loss for the hospital. GE is the only vendor able to repair these machines without voiding the service contract.
