SCA is a compounding company that supplies our epidurals and oxytocin bags. SCA Pharmaceuticals is essential to receive epidurals and oxytocin bags because they specialize in making these medications safely and follow strict FDA rules, ensuring high quality and patient safety.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical at a university-operated health care center or dispensary that provides care, treatment, and medications for students, faculty and staff (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) These are critical products that pharmacy needs to have on hand at all times. Without these products, we would not be able to provide patient care, which would result in a loss of revenue for the hospital.
