The University awarded a contract for restricted treatments.
This purchase is for restricted treatments that are not available from our primary contracted distributor and must be purchased from Curascript. These restricted treatments are Livdelzi and Ocaliva for primary biliary cholangitis, Lupkynis for lupus, and Tymlos for osteoporosis.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical at a university-operated health care center or dispensary that provides care, treatment, and medications for students, faculty and staff (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) These treatments are restricted and only available to highly accredited pharmacies such as the UI Health Specialty Pharmacy Services. Providing access to these treatments for UI Health patients provide the best outcomes for the patient.
