The University awarded a contract for perfusion staffing services.
This exemption is for Cardiovascular Perfusion and ExtraCorporeal Membrane Oxygenation Specialist staffing services. The company offers agency perfusion coverage to meet the unique needs of hospitals and healthcare facilities. This is necessary support coverage during staffing shortages.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical at a university-operated health care center or dispensary that provides care, treatment, and medications for students, faculty and staff (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) The perfusion agency coverage services will be utilized during staffing shortages for the UI Health perfusion team. For example, during staff leaves of absence or higher case volume periods of time. This ensures safe and efficient operations for the surgical transplant, cardiac and cardiovascular procedures which are supported by the Perfusion team. This ensures that these surgical procedures can be performed as scheduled.
