The University awarded a contract for a medical equipment service contract.
This exemption is for a GE Precision 5-Year Service Contract which includes comprehensive service and support to ensure the optimal performance, reliability, and safety of the covered medical imaging equipment. Under this agreement 64 devices will be covered including MRI systems, CT scanners, x-ray machines, C-arms, nuclear medicine equipment, PET scanners, ultrasounds and flouoroscopy systems. Preventive maintenance activities will be completed in accordance with manufacturer specifications and regulatory guidelines. In the event of system faults or performance issues, qualified service personnel provide troubleshooting, diagnostics, repair, and replacement of defective components as necessary to restore the equipment to full operational status.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) This service contract is necessary for the effective use of the medical equipment.
