This exemption is for the purchase of sterilization equipment, infection prevention products, instrument processing supplies, and related maintenance/services from STERIS to support clinical operations, patient safety, instrument sterilization, and regulatory compliance within the UIC College of Dentistry. Services may include equipment inspection, preventive maintenance, repair, validation, and technical support for sterilization and surgical processing systems.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) These supplies and services are necessary for the sterilization of medical equipment that is used in direct patient care.
