Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners - Frontline Forensics, LLC provides on-call Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) services for the Emergency Department, ensuring compliance with Illinois State law requiring 24/7/365 SANE coverage. These specially trained nurses offer compassionate care to sexual assault patients, reduce re-traumatization, and enhance the quality of forensic evidence collection, supporting higher prosecution rates. Due to the limited availability of SANE-certified nurses, on-call services are essential.

This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) This procurement is in the best interests of the University because it ensures the hospital complies with Illinois State law requiring 24/7/365 Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) coverage, effective January 1, 2023.
