Announcement of an Exempt Purchase

Siemens Medical Solutions USA, INC full-service contract for two Artis Q Biplane X-Ray units and one MAGNETOM Aera MRI scanner, including 24/7 emergency support and year-round preventive maintenance.

This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical at a university-operated health care center or dispensary that provides care, treatment, and medications for students, faculty and staff (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) This procurement is in the best interests of the University because it ensures the Systems are covered under a comprehensive Service and Support Agreement. This coverage prevents the higher costs and operational disruptions associated with a time-and-materials approach. Additionally, the agreement guarantees that the Systems remain up-to-date with software updates and receive routine and scheduled maintenance, supporting uninterrupted surgical operations and optimal performance.
