Announcement of an Exempt Purchase

Full-Service Contract for Specialized Computed Tomography (CT) Scanner which provides comprehensive support for a specialized CT scanner, primarily used for oncology applications. The full-service agreement includes repairs, preventative maintenance, and tube coverage to ensure the continued functionality and reliability of the system.

This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical at a university-operated health care center or dispensary that provides care, treatment, and medications for students, faculty and staff (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) This procurement is in the best interests of the University because the equipment has been consistently maintained by Philips since its installation. Without a Service and Support Agreement, the systems would require time-and-materials servicing, which can be costly. Furthermore, without the agreement, the systems would not receive regular software updates or scheduled maintenance, potentially compromising their performance and reliability.
