The University awarded a contract for a Highspeed Automated Confocal Microscope.
High speed automated confocal microscope and Network and information systems (NIS) Elements Advanced Research software and its modules.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) Our funded research specifically requires a confocal microscope designed to couple with a super-resolution inverted fluorescence microscope that allows us to interrogate cellular structures/morphological and biochemical functional levels. The instrument is currently only available at leading institutes this procurement expands the research capability of the Principal Investigator (PI's) lab and increases visibility of the University.
