The University awarded a contract for Consulting Services.
Provide technical assistance and linkages with mental health policy makers regarding delivery of crisis services in the state of New Jersey for a research study in that state, assist with interpretation of data released by the state regarding its 988 crisis response services and outcomes and participate in the development of a manual to help people with psychiatric disabilities access their primary care providers' medical portals. Provide consultation on the development and dissemination of products for the Center's educational on-line portal Solutions Suite.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) Failure to approve the exemption may result in the loss of grant funding, research opportunities, and future funding prospects associated with this work. It could also diminish the University's ability to contribute to emerging best practices in crisis response systems, including the evaluation of 988 services, and reduce its competitiveness for future research awards in the behavioral health field. The resulting loss of external funding and institutional recognition could have a significant long-term financial impact on the University and the State.
