The University awarded a contract for Specialized Bruker Research Equipment.
Vendor will provide to the Chemistry department various specialized Bruker research equipment required to support ongoing and future research activities.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) Crucial research projects will be interrupted or delayed due to the inability to obtain the specialized equipment required to conduct the work. Such disruptions may result in missed project milestones, delays in research outcomes, and potential loss of grant funding or future funding opportunities. The University could also incur additional costs associated with project delays, equipment substitutions, or restarting research activities.
