The University awarded a contract for TBJ Model 30-96-S BD-DU DualUser Backdraft Workstn.
The TBJ Model 30-96-S BD-DU Dual-user Backdraft Workstation is designed to provide a ventilated workstation for two users to work simultaneously on procedures such as necropsies, perfusions and gross dissection procedures. The table shall function to pull air, odors, vapors and aerosols back and away from the face of personnel when connected to a negative air source. Chemicals such as formalin, alcohol and xylene are controlled and can be kept below OSHA permissible exposure limits thus providing a healthier, safer work environment.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) .
