The University awarded a contract for Experimental Monitoring of Tile Drainage Flows.
The supplies requested are autosampling instruments to enable real-time monitoring of drainage tiles in a new College of ACES long-term field experiment. The unique instrumentation provided by this vendor, used in all other projects of this type, are essential to securing the high quality of data for maximizing current and future investments in this long-term field experiment on campus.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) To maximize the value of the long-term experiment for understanding agricultural impacts on water quality, measurement of real-time tile flow is essential. Exempt per (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)).
