Project Description
Architectural Services for a new Science and Technology Center on the CSU campus. Programming and planning for the new facility adjacent to the existing building are the primary focus. This project envisions a new state-of-the-art Science and Technology Center of approximately 300,000 square feet to be located on the core campus of Chicago State University at 9501 S. King Drive in Chicago, Illinois. Scope of services at this time is limited to programming and planning for this facility and all associated infrastructure and support space. The goal is to create a student-focused teaching-learning and research facility that is sensitive to the current and future needs of Chicago State University and the College of Arts and Sciences in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) disciplines with particular emphasis on sustainability and LEEDS practices. Disciplines to be housed in the building include biological sciences, chemistry, computer science, geography, mathematics, physics, and engineering studies with the expectation that additional disciplines may be added in the future. Also envisioned for the building are areas for faculty-student exchange and student support programs, and spaces for outreach programs in STEM disciplines, community involvement, new research directions, a small business incubator. It is expected that this request will be completed by early April, 2009.
