The Board of Trustees of Eastern Illinois University hereby requests sealed bids for construction work on the hot water piping replacement for Lincoln and Douglas Halls project (Bid # FR012928).

The scope of work includes replacement of all domestic hot water supply and circulating piping systems, steam water heaters, and provision of new shower fittings in Lincoln Hall and Douglas Hall, and associated general and site work.

There is a refundable plan deposit of $50 per set.

All bids from contractors must be on the bid proposal form included in the Project Manual. Bidders must submit their bids in accordance with the bidding instructions in Section 00100. The entire bid form must be completed in order to be considered. Failure to complete the entire bid form may result in bid not being accepted.

Bid security in a dollar amount equal to five percent of the bid submitted must accompany each bid in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders. Each bidder must have completed the qualification requirements in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders. Statutory bonds for performance of the contract and for payment of mechanics and materials will be required in an amount equal to 100 percent of the accepted bid.

Bids will be held good and may not be withdrawn for a period of 60 calendar days from the date of receipt.

All contractors must pay employees involved with construction on this project not less than the prevailing wage rate.

Eastern Illinois University specifically reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive any informalities in the bidding and to accept bids which, in its judgment will be for its own best interest.

Bidders are advised approximately thirty to sixty days may elapse between a vendor's submission of bill and the payment of such bill.

Sealed envelopes containing the bids will be marked hot water piping replacement for Lincoln and Douglas Halls. Bids will be received up to the hour of 2:00 PM local time, on Wednesday, December 12, 2001. Immediately after closing time for receiving bids, they will be opened publicly and read.

All bids must include:

  • All bidders must submit a PC-2 form as required by the Illinois Department of Human Rights.

A pre-bid conference will be scheduled at Stevenson Cafeteria at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 20, 2001.
