The Board of Trustees of Eastern Illinois University hereby requests sealed bids for construction work on the Weller Hall air conditioning and Triad utilities replacement project.
Eastern Illinois University is accepting bids for the above project. Sealed bids for General and Electrical work will be received until January 27, 2004, 2:00 P.M. prevailing time. Sealed bids for Heating (Coordinating Contractor) Work will be received until January 28, 2004. Sealed bids must be delivered to the Office of the Director of Purchases, Room 1135 Old Main, at which time they will be opened and read publicly.
A pre-bid conference will be held in the basement of Weller Hall at 2:00 P.M. on January 8, 2004.
The scope of work includes installation of through-the-wall air conditioning units in each dormitory room, complete with wall openings, wall sleeves, power distribution, upgrading of power service, modifications and additions to temperature controls for the existing heating systems, replacement of exhaust systems, installation of rooftop make-up air units, abatement and removal of underground steam, condensate and water piping, installation of new steam, condensate and domestic water piping and installation of underground electrical raceway as shown on the construction documents. Project also includes associated site work and asbestos abatement.

A refundable plan deposit in the amount of $50 per set, made payable to KM2 Design Group, P.C. is required. Certified, cashier's or company check or AGC card, are acceptable.
All bids from cContractors must be on the Bid Proposal Form included in the Project Manual. Bidders must submit their bids in accordance with the bidding instructions in Section 00100. The entire Bid Form must be completed in order to be considered.
Bid security in a dollar amount equal to five percent of the bid submitted must accompany each bid in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders. Each bidder must have completed the qualification requirements in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders. Statutory Bonds for performance of the contract and for payment of mechanics and materials will be required in an amount equal to 100 percent of the accepted bid.
Bids will be held good and may not be withdrawn for a period of 60 calendar days from the date of receipt.
All contractors must pay employees involved with construction on this project not less than the prevailing wage rate.
Eastern Illinois University specifically reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive any informalities in the bidding and to accept bids which, in its judgment, will be for its own best interest.
Bidders are advised approximately 30 to 60 days may elapse between a vendor's submission of bill and the payment of such bill.
Bids will be received up to the hour of 2:00 PM local time, on Tuesday, January 27, 2004. Immediately after closing time for receiving bids, they will be opened publicly and read.
