The University intends to award a contract for DNA Analysis Aystem to for .
There is only one economically feasible source for this equipment. In addition, this DNA analysis system has capabilities that are specifically required for the intended use that are not available from any other firm's product for use within the classroom or academic lab environment.

This 4300 LI-COR DNA analysis system is unique for student use and teaching protocols, which is a paramount consideration. Example: this LI-COR model is designed to hibernate and be ready to use by multiple students throughout the course meeting, rather than typical high output sequencing. The Li-Cor equipment allows for manual and automatic reading of sequence. This allows students to actually see the results of their work as they are processed.

This is the only model that can be adapted as a teaching tool because of intermittent pattern of use rather than other research production equipment.
