The Board of Trustees of Illinois State University hereby requests sealed bids for construction work on the Vitro House fire reconstruction project (Bid # EB011304).

This project is for labor and materials for repairing fire damage to the Vitro House. This will consist of shoring up and replacing damaged materials such as vent hood, roof, studs, rafters, top plates to sound material, exterior sheathing, fiberglass insulation, drywall and fire tape drywall joints, Tyvek wrap, metal siding, and Plexiglass. This will include disconnecting and reconnecting air and gas lines as well as conduit wiring as needed, and install three new fans, four controllers and switches for the glass furnaces and exhaust. Work is to be completed by March 1, 2004.

Sealed envelopes containing the bids will be marked Vitro House fire reconstruction. Bids will be received up to the hour of 11:00 AM local time, on Tuesday, January 13, 2004. Immediately after closing time for receiving bids, they will be opened publicly and read.

All bids must include:

  • Bid security (see complete bid for details)
  • A letter from a surety company in substantially the form set forth in the Instructions to Bidders assuring the issuance of the Performance and Payment Bond.
  • All bidders must submit a PC-2 form as required by the Illinois Department of Human Rights.

A mandatory pre-bid meeting is scheduled for January 5th, 2004, 10:00am local time at Illinois State University, Facilities Planning conference room, Normal, IL. If your company intends to submit a prime bid for this project, you must attend this meeting and your company name must appear on the official attendance log. The log will be used in the bid opening process. If your company name does not appear on the log, your bid will not be opened.
