Project DescriptionIllinois State University is seeking statements of qualifications from engineer to perform design work for replacing/upgrading the fire alarm systems in the Science Laboratory Building. This building is primarily a laboratory facility, with no typical teaching classrooms. Not only does student instruction occur, including all freshman labs, but it is also the primary laboratory research facility on campus. The facility opened in 1997.
This proposed project is essential to the continuing safety of the occupants. Coordination will be required to facilitate work and scheduled with appropriate ISU staff.
The scope of engineered design work includes, but may not be limited to:
1.Engage an A/E firm to design a new fire alarm system and upgrades to infrastructure.
2.Provide design for the entire building and greenhouses.
3.Prepare plans and specifications for said improvements and upgrades.
4.Prepare a phasing plan if necessary.
Design firms interested in submitting their qualifications should have demonstrated knowledge and experience with fire alarm systems projects. No project costs have been established for this project at this time. The engineers and their consultants will be responsible for developing a complete project budget as their design progresses.
As a project funded by the University, the following are required:
•Complete A/E 3D Building Information Modeling (BIM) during the entire design process

Only those firms which meet the following qualifications will be considered:
- Submitted 2 copies of their qualifications.
- Licensed to practice as an architect, landscape architect, or engineer in the State of Illinois.
- Registered and authorized to do business in the State of Illinois.
- Utilize an AutoCAD compatible system to provide documents.
- There is no BEP goal for this procurement.
Selection will be consistent with the Architectural, Engineering, and Land Surveying Qualifications Based Selection Act (30 ILCS 535/1).
This transaction is subject to the State Board of Elections registration and certification requirements of Public Act 095-0971.
