NIU is accepting submittals of qualifications by architectural teams (including engineering and consultants) for program analysis, preliminary design, estimation and preparation of plans and specifications for bidding. Within the scope of work is the construction of The Center for Communicative and Rehabilitative Services, to build a clinical facility that will specialize in the areas of speech, language, hearing and physical therapy. Additionally, the clinic will support the Program for the Hearing Impaired. The project will require:

  • Assessment of existing conditions
  • Design using 'Made in the USA' products only
  • Estimation of anticipated construction costs
  • Presentation of alternative program solutions
  • Preparation of construction documents and on-site observation during construction
Schedule
The desired construction completion is before Spring 2007.

Submittal Requirements
Use of the CDB Standard Form 255 is required for submittal of qualification. However the project will be administered by NIU, not the CDB. Please include the following:
  • Resumes of key project personnel
  • Evidence of prequalification with the Capital Development Board (CDB)
  • References
  • Descriptions of similar, previously completed projects
  • Information regarding current workload and availability
A selection committee has been established by the University to review those firms which indicate interest in this project. This committee will evaluate all submittals and recommend a preferred firm based on the following, weighted, evaluation criteria:
  • 50% Successful completion of similar Academic/Clinical Facilities projects
  • 20% CDB and State University experience
  • 20% Responses of references listed on CDB SF255
  • 10% Minority and Female Business Enterprise involvement
