Northern Illinois University awarded a contract for roof replacement in the amount of $249,950 on Friday, April 2, 2004 . The University''s field house roof requires emergency repairs and replacement to protect new interior furnishings, fixtures and equipment from water damage due to leakage caused by the seriously deteriorated roofing. Flat roof areas will be replaced down to the concrete deck. The barrel roof areas will be pressure cleaned, have minor repairs made as needed, and then be primed and coated with two coats of Erathane urethane coating. The work will include a ten-year warranty. The price will include all labor, materials and equipment necessary to complete the project and the warranty. This emergency/quick purchase was required due to a situation in which immediate repairs were needed to prevent further loss or damage to University property.
