for Model Year 2002 sedans. Southern Illinois University is seeking bids on the following vehicles: 3 Model Year 2002 four-door sedans, Chevrolet Cavalier, Ford Focus, Dodge Neon or University approved equal to include items listed as standard, and to meet the following minimum specifications:

  • 103" wheelbase (minimum)
  • Engine: Fuel injected, 4-cylinder, 2.0L (minimum)
  • Automatic transmission with overdrive
  • Power Steering
  • Power brakes, front disk, rear anti-lock
  • Air Conditioning
  • Cruise control factory installed
  • Intermittent wipers
  • AM/FM Radio, with clock
  • Tires: 4-steel belted radial blackwall, plus s standard equipment spare
  • Dual Air bags
  • Front and rear license plate brackets
  • Standard interior/cloth
  • Front wheel drive
  • Front stabilizer bar
  • All necessary and applicable shop service manuals
The University also wishes to receive bids on the following vehicles: 2 Model Year 2002 four door mid-sized sedans, Chevrolet Lumina, Ford Taurus, Mercury Sable, Dodge Stratus, or University approved equal, to include all items listed as standard, and to meet the follwoing minimum specifications:
  • 3.0L 2V 6-cylinder Ethanol flex fuel engine
  • 108" wheelbase (minimum)
  • Power steering
  • Anti-lock brakes, front & rear
  • Air conditioning
  • Automatic transmission, 4-speed with overdrive
  • Tinted Glass
  • Remote controlled outside mirrors
  • Cruise control, factory installed
  • AM/FM Radio with clock
  • Tires: Steel belted, BSW, standard with equipment spare
  • Dual air bags
  • Front and rear license plate brackets
  • Cloth interior
  • Front wheel drive
  • Front stabilizer bar
  • Daytime running lights
  • All necessary and applicable shop service manuals
The University has 5 vehicles it wishes to trade-in for the above units. The trade-ins may be inspected on Thursday October 25, 2001 at the SIUC Travel Service Office (618-453-7720), between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Prospective bidders must indicate if their quotations do not meet, or exceed specifications. An award will be made to the lowest bidder meeting specifications and conditions. The award may be made to multiple vendors if it is deemed in the best interest of the University.

The University reserves the right to accept or reject any and all bids or parts thereof. Vendor may expect payment thirty to sixty days after receipt of invoice, unless otherwise stated in the bid/RFP documents. Contingent on Board of Trustees approval. Bidding documents may be obtained by contacting the Purchasing Office. Illinois Department of Human Rights (IDHR) eligibility number is required on all bid proposals.
