Project Description
The Board of Trustees of Southern Illinois University requests letters of interest from engineers to provide a professional service retainer contract for mechanical/electrical engineering.

The University is seeking engineering firms to provide professional services on an open-ended basis for a one year period with three additional one year options. Services would be performed on an as-needed basis during the contract period. There would not be a guarantee of work assigned. The use of consulting services under the professional service retainer contract will be limited to projects under $500,000 and to where an individual A/E discipline contract is less than $25,000 for any one project.
Typical services required of the professional engineer selected are:
  • HVAC and temperature control systems
  • Plumbing systems
  • Steam and chilled water piping generation and distribution systems
  • Fire protection/sprinkler systems
  • Fume hoods/Exhaust systems
  • Electrical systems
In addition to the qualifications listed, the following project related criteria will be used to evaluate the consulting firms requesting consideration for the selection:
Related criteria:
  • Prior firm experience with similar projects
  • Appropriate staff size and disciplines
  • Prior performance of firm and its consultants with completed projects at Southern Illinois University and with other State higher educational institutions
  • Participation in a minority and female enterprise program is desired

Only those firms which meet the following qualifications will be considered:
  • Submitted 6 copies of their qualifications.
  • Licensed to practice as an architect, landscape architect, or engineer in the State of Illinois.
  • Pre-qualified with the State of Illinois Capital Development Board.
  • Registered and authorized to do business in the State of Illinois.
Selection will be consistent with the Architectural, Engineering, and Land Surveying Qualifications Based Selection Act (30 ILCS 535/1).

This transaction is subject to the State Board of Elections registration and certification requirements of Public Act 095-0971.
