This project involves architectural and engineering services for a sprinkler installation and upgrade.

The University is seeking letters of interest from architectural and engineering firms to provide professional services for a three-phase project to install the required automatic sprinkler systems in the facilities at Thompson Point and University Hall. Thompson Point consists of eleven buildings with a total of 671 rooms with a total capacity of 1,198. University Hall has a capacity of 361 residents in 239 rooms. Each building also contains offices, study areas, and laundry rooms.
Phase One will initiate the design and installation of the sprinkler system for Steagall, Pierce, Brown, and Bowyer Halls to occur during 2008. Phase two will require system design and installation for Smith, Abbott, Kellogg, and Warren Halls during 2009. The remaining three Thompson Point buildings, which are Bailey, Baldwin, and Felts Halls will be the final phase with design and installation occurring in 2010. This also includes University Hall.
The following project-related criteria will be used to evaluate the Consulting firms requesting consideration for selection:
- Prior firm experience with similar projects
- Appropriate staff size and disciplines
- Prior performance of firm and its consultants with completed projects at Southern Illinois University and with other State Higher Educational Institutions
- Participation in a business enterprise program (diversity)

Only those firms which meet the following qualifications will be considered:
- Submitted 6 copies of their qualifications.
- Licensed to practice as an architect, landscape architect, or engineer in the State of Illinois.
- Pre-qualified with the State of Illinois Capital Development Board.
- Registered and authorized to do business in the State of Illinois.
- Utilize an AutoCAD compatible system to provide documents.
Selection will be consistent with the Architectural, Engineering, and Land Surveying Qualifications Based Selection Act (30 ILCS 535/1).
This transaction is subject to the State Board of Elections registration and certification requirements of Public Act 095-0971.
