The University awarded a contract for refurbishing freight elevator in MUC.

Southern Illinois University Edwardsville awarded a contract for refurbishing freight elevator in MUC in the estimated amount of $65,310 on Friday, May 28, 2004 . The freight elevator that services Dining Services on all three floors of the Morris University Center is currently attempting to function on door controls and original equipment that were installed in 1967. The elevator must be operational for Fall semester. The equipment has a long-lead time of four weeks and the installation of the equipment and repair of the elevator will take four weeks.

Approximately twice a week, the Building Engineer must be called to get people off of the elevator. This emergency/quick purchase was required due to a situation in which public health or safety was threatened.
