Affymetrix is the manufacturer and sole source provider for this equipment. The GeneChip Instrument System is a fully integrated system which enables analysis for gene expression, genotyping, and mutation detection. The system is covered by patents and no licensed systems or instruments offered by third party providers are able to use any components of the GeneChip system, including arrays.
