The Board of Trustees of Southern Illinois University School of Medicine hereby requests sealed bids for construction work on the new services building for SIU School of Medicine project (Bid # RFQ119-RFQ124).
The work consists of a two-story office/warehouse building with a steel frame and brick veneer and architectural precast panels. Building construction includes single-ply roofing, aluminum windows, store-front and curtainwall, gypsum board and CMU partitions, finishes, signage, and elevators. Building systems include mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems. Site improvements include a loading dock, sidewalks, curbs/gutters, landscaping, and utilities. Contracts will be awarded for the following trades: general (RFQ119), plumbing (RFQ120), heating (RFQ121), ventilation (RFQ122), electrical (RFQ123), and fire protection (RFQ124). Contractors must be pre-qualified with CDB, and must pay prevailing wages as determined by the Illinois Department of Labor.
The 2:00 p.m. bid opening on Tuesday, April 16, 2002 applies to general contractors. Bids being submitted for plumbing, heating, ventilation, electrical, and fire protection are due no later than 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 12, 2002.
Sealed envelopes containing the bids will be marked new services building for SIU School of Medicine. Bids will be received up to the hour of 2:00 PM local time, on Tuesday, April 16, 2002. Immediately after closing time for receiving bids, they will be opened publicly and read.

A pre-bid meeting will be held for all contractors on Tuesday, March 26, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. in the South Auditorium at 801 North Rutledge, Springfield, Illinois. Representatives of the owner and architect will be present to take questions regarding the project. All bidders are urged to attend.
