The University awarded a contract for supplies for patient specimen testing.
Cardinal Health is a laboratory distribution vendor providing a wide range of supplies for use in the University of Illinois Hospital Pathology Laboratories which are crucial to the operation of instrumentation, the collection of patient specimens, and the testing of those specimens.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) Cardinal Health provides supplies a range of supplies which are crucial for patient care, via specimen testing, at the University of Illinois Hospital.
