The University awarded a contract for science communications services and products.
Health Matrix will provide strategic science communications services and products for the Bloomberg Grant. This includes, but is not limited to, the development of multiple written documents and providing and updating content for the Tobacconomics web site. Health Matrix will provide support to multiple team members at all phases of product development and dissemination of findings.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) The project has significant communication needs, but the University does not have the expertise on the staff. Health Matrix is an expert in health communication, and have experience with the interpretation and dissemination of research findings.
