The University awarded a contract for gastroenterology services to the pediatric Unit.
This emergency/quick purchase was required due to a situation in which immediate action was needed to prevent any disruption in University services.
A contract was negotiated in 2009 with the Center for Children’s Digestive Health (CCDH) to provide Gastroenterology services to the Pediatric Unit of the University of Illinois Hospital and Health Sciences System . The Contract expires on September 15, 2012 . In general, the gastroenterology services include: physicians will provide administrative and clinical duties to operate the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology department and will also serve as adjunct faculty for the UIHHSS College of Medicine for teaching, education, and clinical services of medical students and residents. The UIHHSS does not currently provide pediatric gastrointestinal (GI) services and the only faculty member resigned from the organization in June 2009. These personnel services are to be available 24/7 for all 365 days per year for onsite inpatient and outpatient Gastroenterology services.
