The University awarded a contract for mechanical design and drafting.
This service is for Patrick Dell Engineering to work on the mechanical design and drafting for the construction of a canted undulator x-ray beamline at NSF's ChemMatCARS beamline, Sector 15 at the Advanced Photon Source (APS), Argonne National Laboratory under award number NSF/CHE-1836674. The scope of work includes: (1) Design complete beamline CAD model for the canted undulator construction project. Supply all required drawings for project design scope. (2) Design any auxiliary beamline components on an as needed basis. Supply all necessary CAD files, coordinate RFQs, select vendors for manufacture, and assist in onsite installation.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) This procurement of specialized synchrotron x-ray beamline design services will enable the University to fulfill its commitment to design and build a new beamline at NSF's ChemMatCARS Sector 15 of the Advanced Photon Source under recently awarded NSF/CHE-1836674.
