The University awarded a contract for RS 2000 X-ray Irradiator.
RS 2000 X-ray Irradiator
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) This equipment will be used by multiple basic science researchers in multiple departments at the College of Medicine in Peoria. One specific example of the importance of this is that a researcher with a recently-funded 2.4 million dollar NIH grant will use it. It is therefore of high importance to the university for showing that this grant's work can be completed and for future success in obtaining external funding.
