The University awarded a contract for Full Preventative Maintenance Services.
UIC Law maintains 4 buildings off of the main UIC Campus. We are not covered for regular maintenance by UIC Facilities staff. Hill Mechanical were the vendor used by John Marshall Law School for these services, alongside property management by MB Real Estate. We have terminated service with MB Real Estate and hired our own Facilities Director.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for events or activities paid for exclusively by revenues generated by the event or activity, gifts, or donations for the event or activity, private grants, or any combination thereof. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(2)) It was agreed that continuing with Hill Mechanical for one more year would enable a smooth transition and keep UIC Law up to date with critical maintenance that can affect the safety of Staff and Students, along with the continued operation of the law school properties.
