The Board of Trustees of U of Illinois Facilities Planning and Programs hereby requests sealed bids for construction work on the Housing Card Access Systems - Phase II, Sherman, Goodwin/Green, Taft/Van Doren, and Triad Halls at the Urbana Campus project .

Project Description
UIUC Housing Division has started a multi-phased project to install a card access system to various exterior and security doors in the residence halls. Last year phase I was completed at Daniels Hall, Lincoln Avenue, and Allen Halls. The Housing Division would like to accelerate the installation of the system in the remaining 11 housing complexes. The work involved providing a card access system and door monitoring to selected doors along with door and hardware replacement as needed. The work is anticipated to be completed in three additional phases, Phase II (2002), Phase III (2003) and Phase IV, completing all work on or before August 1, 2004. The Phase II work is estimated to be $310,000.

Bids will be received up to the hour of 2:00 PM local time, on Tuesday, April 23, 2002. Immediately after closing time for receiving bids, they will be opened publicly and read.

Pre-Bid Conference
A pre-bid conference will be held in Room 21, LAR Basement Conference Room at 10:00 a.m. prevailing time on Tuesday, April 16, 2002. Representatives of the owner and the architect/engineer will be present to answer questions regarding the project and bidding procedures. All prospective bidders are urged to attend.
