Project Description
Numerous campus buildings are equipped with substandard fire alarm/evacuation systems or no fire alarm systems at all. The Urbana campus has developed a program that addresses this serious deficiency in a systematic manner by upgrading the alarm system in a few buildings each year. The approach is to upgrade the alarm system in buildings with relatively high occupancy level or buildings that will have remodeling or renovation activities in them. This program will install the new Pyrotronics main sensing panel, replace existing detectors, and add additional detectors where applicable. The buildings to be upgraded by this project are Altgeld Hall and Noyes Laboratory.

Firms should submit four copies of the following: a letter of interest, a copy of its CDB prequalification letter, and a 255 form (use CDB SF 255 dated 7/1/99) by 4:00 p.m., Monday, February 26, 2001, addressed to:

Architect/Engineer selection will be consistent with the Architectural, Engineering, and Land Surveying Qualifications Based Selection Act (30 ILCS 535/1).

Only those firms which meet the following qualifications will be considered for selection:

  • Licensed to practice as an architect in the State of Illinois
  • Prequalified with the State of Illinois Capital Development Board
  • Business presence in Illinois
  • Utilization of AutoCAD compatible system
